To make an educated choice, you must strip away the marketing jargon and examine the core polymer chemistry of all three systems:
- Dip Powder System (Cyanoacrylate Chemistry): Despite being marketed as an "organic vitamin powder," dip powder is essentially medical-grade cyanoacrylate glue (the chemical cousin of Krazy Glue) paired with ultra-micronized polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) acrylic powder. You paint on a layer of resin adhesive, dip your finger into powder, and repeat 3 to 4 times. An ethyl acetate activator liquid is then applied, triggering an instantaneous catalytic cure without any UV/LED lamp.
- Gel Nail System (Photopolymerization Chemistry): Formulated with pre-polymerized oligomers (primarily urethane dimethacrylates and di-HEMA). These viscous liquids remain workable indefinitely until exposed to specific wavelengths of ultraviolet light (365nm to 405nm emitted by LED lamps).
